EMERGENCY SERVICES:

                Automated External Defibrillator (AED):  Our subdivision has an AED featuring “Real CPR Help”.  It is in a weather proof box on the front porch of Jim and Lois Brown’s house at 633 Wildwood Trace.  Please feel free to use it if such an emergency arises.  Information and video can been seen at zoll.com.  The Red Cross provides CPR and AED training.  Go to the web to find the nearest class and dates.  The AED provides step-by-step instructions for use. 

                Broadview Volunteer Fire Department:   Fire Services are provided by Broadview Volunteer Fire Department located at 5253 Lynchburg Road (across the road from Broadview Store).  Phone number is (931) 962-2006.  As a volunteer fire department, funds are dependent upon area resident contributions and department’s fund raising activities such as bi-annual fish fries. 

                Helipad is located behind the Volunteer Fire Department.

                Hospital:  Southern Tennessee Medical Center, 185 Hospital Road, Winchester  967-8200.  Physician referral 1-800-890-8339.

                Minor Emergency Walk-In Clinics:  Winchester Urgent Care is located at 2204 Cowan Highway, Winchester (931) 967-1514 and is open Monday – Friday 8am-7pm and Saturday 9am-3pm.  It is located very close to the hospital. 

Quick Care is located on 25 Veterans Drive, Decherd, TN  37324 (location is very close to intersection of Sharp Springs and Bible Crossing Road).  Phone number is 962-2273.  Hours are Monday – Saturday    8am – 7pm and Sunday 1pm-7pm.

                Burn Permits are required for burning yard and other debris. 

                Tims Ford Council (timsfordcouncil.org):   An organization whose purpose is to protect the quality of the lake by working with the various agencies whose functions or services impact the lake.  The Council meets quarterly and conducts programs that are informative to people that either live or boat on the lake.   HWRHA members actively support the annual lake clean-up initiative. 

 RECREATION ACTIVITES:

                Tims Ford State Park:  Located only 3 miles from the entrance of HWRH, the address is 570 Tims Ford Drive.  Office phone number is 962-1183.  There are over 5 miles of paved trails for hiking and biking.  Other activities include marina, cabins, camping conference facility, picnic shelters , events and programs (including a Junior Ranger Camp for children), golf, swimming, ice cream store and other activities (playgrounds for children, volleyball, baseball, basketball, and horseshoes). 

                Swimplex:  Both indoor and outdoor pools are available for lap swim, recreation swim, pool rentals, swim lessons, and water aerobics.  Phone number is 962-4204. Located at 251 Old Estill Springs Road, Winchester. 

                Tennis:   Lighted tennis courts are located across the road from the Bass Club located on Hwy 130.  Picnic shelters are also found at this location.  Sewanee Golf and Tennis Club. 

                Public  Golf Courses:   Bear Trace at Tim’s Ford State Park (see above) and  Scenic View Golf Course, 3992 AEDC Rd., Winchester.  Arnold Golf Course is a nine-hole course located about 7 miles west of the AEDC industrial area near Tullahoma.  Sewanee Golf and Tennis Club located in Sewanee, TN. 

                Hiking:  Walls of Jericho located on Keith Springs Mountain, only 16.1 miles from junction of Highways 64 and 16 in Winchester, TN.  Sewanee Perimeter Trail  running along the bluff of the Cumberland Plateau for 20 miles and has access points including Morgan’s Steep, Proctor’s Hall, Green’s View, the University Gates, and the Cross.   These are only a few of the many trails close to Winchester. 

                Fishing:  Tim’s Ford Lake for bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, small mouth bass, wall-eye, and rockfish.  On the back water of the Tim’s Ford Dam, one will find trout fishing, but be sure to check when the dam releases water…schedule is available at Broadview Grocery.    Woods Reservoir:  Located on Arnold Air Force Base, the lake is noted for big bass and muskie (Exit 117 from I-24).

AREAS  OF INTEREST:

                Sewanee, TN:   Location of University of the South and its many outdoor and cultural events (see online newspaper for events in Sewanee and surrounding areas,   www.sewaneemountainmessenger.com).  Other locations close to Sewanee are Monteagle and Tracy City.   Good restaurants are located in these areas. 

                Lynchburg, TN:  Small town values and perfect   Americana living are alive and well.  This is the home of Jack Daniel’s Distillery.  www.lynchburgtenn.com  Tours are available.  Several excellent restaurants and small shops are located very close to the distillery and downtown square. 

                Fall’s Mill:  Located in the Southwest corner of the county is great historical spot in the Community of Old Salem.  This area was first settled in the 1700’s and was the hub of industry in the county.  The only remaining mill, Falls Mill, still grinds grain by the old method, a water-powered grindstone, and there is a large working water wheel.  There is a museum, tours of the mill, a store for purchase of stone-ground flour and meal, and grounds for walking along the stream and picnics.   Martha Stewart recently toured and filmed the mill and bed-and-breakfast. 

            Cowan, TN:   Just before you head up the mountain road to Sewanee,  Cowan is located at the base of the mountain only 6 miles from Winchester.  There you can enjoy a train museum and an antique locomotive.  Cowan has several excellent restaurants.  Cultural events and the Polly Crockett Festival (September) are highlighted events. 

                Belvidere, TN:  Located West of Winchester on Highway 64, the Swiss Pantry  for dry goods and spices/herbs as well as some bakery items.  The Belvidere Market is a small country store  and on Saturday nights is a restaurant with live music.
